Vincent Kompany Backs Fellaini To Be Successful At Manchester United

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes that Manchester United have to give Marouane Fellaini some time in order for him to become a successful player at United.

Vincent Kompany has played with Marouane Fellaini in international matches for Belgium, and Kompany has revealed that it is only a ‘matter of time’ before Fellaini becomes a success at United.

Fellaini was David Moyes’ only signing in the summer transfer window on deadline day for £27.5 million.

Despite the fact that Vincent Kompany plays for local rivals Manchester City, he is eager to see international team mate Fellaini reach top form ahead of the World Cup in Brazil in the summer of 2014.

Whilst a lot of people though that the purchase of Fellaini was a panic buy from David Moyes, Moyes has worked with the Belgian midfielder at Everton, previously buying Fellaini from Standard Liege as Everton manager.

Vincent Kompany praised Marouane Fellaini of being a key player for Belgium.

“He’s an important player for Belgium. You just feel he can have a big impact on the team. They will need him a lot. He’s one of those special players”, said Kompany.

With it being Marouane Fellaini’s first season with Manchester United, Kompany believes that Fellaini will continue to improve and be a good signing for United as he progresses in his career.

Premier League Weekend Review and impact of new signings

As the Barclays Premiership has now passed the first three games, teams are in positions where you can guarantee they will not end up in come end of the season. This weekend consisted of nine thrilling league matches, except the encounter between Liverpool and Swansea which was played on Monday night. Footballers that had also signed for clubs on deadline day managed to make their debut for their clubs. The players had to wait the extra week because of the crucial World Cup Qualifiers.

The weekend fixtures had seen all the Top 4 clubs grab victories except Chelsea, who were defeated by Everton 1-0. David Moyes has now had plenty of games under his belt to know what he personally expects of his squad as well as the fans, and the Red Devils did not fail to impress as a deserved 2-0 win was captured against 10 man Crystal Palace, however the penalty decision which ultimately lead to the first goal was controversial.

Marouane Fellaini started the match on the bench and he had to wait until the 61st minute to make his debut. Fellaini handled the pressure well, received a fantastic reception by the fans and almost managed to score his first goal in a United shirt, but only if it weren’t for the keeper!

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s deadline day signing Mesut Ozil managed to make an instant impact on his debut in the Stadium of Light within the first ten minutes of the match as he assisted Olivier Giroud to score the opener.

Overall, the new signings over the summer period are now starting to settle in and adapt to life in their respective new clubs, by helping their teams win football matches and hopefully some silverware at the end of the season.
