Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea Travel To The Etihad In Search Of A Victory

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea travel to the Etihad Stadium on Monday in search of a victory. Both clubs are major contenders for the Premier League this season, and these two teams are the favourites to lift the Premier League trophy after a run of consistent performances.

Manchester City have a 100% home record in the league this season. City have played 11 times at home this season and have won all 11 matches in the league at home, managing to score 42 goals in the process.

Arguably, Chelsea and Manchester City’s squads are the strongest in England with great strength in depth and gifted players on the substitutes bench as well as the starting XI.

But Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho admits he is not under pressure to get a victory against Manchester City.

“We are going to try to win knowing perfectly we can lose or draw. Our intention is to try to win”, said Mourinho.

Manchester City have made finding the back of the net look really easy with four players hitting double figures already this season.

Chelsea also have players on form with Samuel Eto’o recently scoring a hat trick against Manchester United. Also, the West Londoners have Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard and Brazilian duo Willian and Oscar in terrific form, who are dubbed the ‘Three Amigos’.

Nemanja Matic Eyes Silverware With Former Club Chelsea

Former Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has rejoined the Blues from Benfica for £21 million.

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic left Chelsea for Benfica three years ago after a lack of first team opportunities.

Matic is delighted to return to Stamford Bridge and is now eyeing to be a crucial part of the Chelsea squad and win trophies with the club.

The Serbian spoke of his delight after joining the Blues and told Chelsea’s official website: “First, I want to play and help the team to win the Premier League, and if it’s possible to play in and win the Champions League in the future”. He is cup tied from the Champions League this season.

Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho played a vital role in luring Matic back to West London from Portugal. The midfielder is now relishing the chance of playing under the Portuguese tactician.

“It’s exciting to work with him, he is the best coach in the world and I want to work with him for a long time. I am ready”, said Matic.

Matic has admitted that moving away from England and playing regular first team football has helped him play under pressure. He is now hoping to nail down a regular starting place in the Chelsea squad.

Matic can make his debut against Manchester United on Sunday when the two teams meet for a crucial Premier League match with kick off at 16:00 GMT.

Middlesbrough appoint Mourinho’s former assistant as boss

FORMER Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka becomes the new head coach of Middlesbrough FC on a contract which will run until 2016.

Karanka has no previous managerial experience, but has worked as an assistant to the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu from 2010 to 2013. The arrival of the Spaniard means that he is Middlesbrough’s first ever non- British boss.

THE START OF A NEW ERA: Boro Head Coach Aitor Karanka

Former manager Tony Mowbray left The Riverside a month ago and since then Mark Venus had taken charge temporarily.

Middlesbrough are currently 16th in the Championship. They remain eight points adrift off the play off positions and five points above the relegation zone.

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson stood against his decision on appointing Aitor Karanka as manager.

“There were 100 applications and it was about finding a first-class coach, regardless of nationality, and I believe we have. Football is a global business now and we must move with it, explained Steve Gibson.

The Renaissance of Fernando Torres

Since Jose Mourinho’s arrival to Chelsea, it has been clearly indicative that the revival of Spaniard Fernando Torres may have just begun. Lately, the striker known as ‘El Nino’ has been in magnificent form which has resulted in him scoring three goals in his last two games against Schalke and Manchester City.

A lot of football opinionated fans think the Special One Jose Mourinho’s impact at Chelsea has been the reason why Torres is starting to score goals again.

Fernando Torres celebrates goal against Barcelona

Since Torres’ departure from Liverpool to Chelsea for £50 million, a lot of critics were writing him off saying he was nowhere near worth the price Chelsea paid for him. However, he has scored crucial goals for Chelsea, including the one against Barcelona in the Champions League semi final, which saw Chelsea beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp after defending for their lives.

The lack of goalscoring opportunities for Torres is because of self confidence according to many football fans and pundits. Moreover, the Spaniard has also had some injuries which has resulted in him having less playing time on the field.

But now Torres seems to be in fine form again and with Chelsea in unbeaten form, the players seem to love playing for Jose Mourinho, which is why I for one think has the time begun now for the renaissance of Fernando Torres. Only time will tell whether this great form of Fernando Torres will continue.
