YAYA Toure manages to get the personal accolade of being named African Footballer of the Year for 2013.
The Manchester City midfielder was competing against Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, John Obi Mikel of Chelsea and Liverpool’s Victor Moses. Yaya Toure was delighted to win the award after being nominated for the past five years.
The judgement on choosing a winner were based on a number of different things. Players skills, teamwork, technical ability and consistency were all taken into account.
Fans had the option to vote by text message or online. The Ivorian was the favourite to win because of his contribution for club and country. His performances saw him create and score some truly remarkable goals.
Toure now joins a list of previous African footballers including Asamoah Gyan and Didier Drogba who have won the award in the past.
Now after being nominated as African Footballer of the Year for 2013, he is now currently the best player in the African continent.
